Independent Minecraft skin tools

About BlockSkinLab

BlockSkinLab is an independent web project built to make custom Minecraft skins easier to create, inspect, and use. The tools are free, require no account, and are designed to do their core image work in your browser instead of sending your artwork to a remote generation service.

Why the project exists

A Minecraft skin is a small, carefully arranged texture rather than a normal picture. Turning a photo or drawing into that layout usually requires learning UV coordinates, checking arm models, and repeatedly importing a file into the game. BlockSkinLab puts those steps into a visual workflow: position an image, choose a compatible size and arm model, preview the assembled character, repair the face if needed, and download the PNG.

Two tools with different jobs

The Image to Minecraft Skin Converter is a deterministic mapping tool. It places the source image on a Minecraft body guide and samples nearby colors and details for the sides and back. It does not pretend to redraw the image with AI.

The AI Minecraft Skin Generator is a separate tool. It runs a compact ONNX model locally with WebAssembly and creates a new random 64×64 texture from a latent input. It currently does not accept text prompts or image prompts, and its drafts should be inspected in the 2D and 3D previews before use.

How we test the tools

Guides and examples are based on outputs from the production converter and generator, not hand-drawn replacements presented as tool results. We test standard 64×64 skins, supported 128×128 workflows, Classic and Slim arms, 2D textures, 3D previews, and the current Java and Bedrock import paths described in our guides. When a platform changes, we update the relevant article rather than treating every edition as the same workflow.

Privacy and independence

Source images and generated skins remain in your browser unless you choose to download them. The site does use ordinary hosting, analytics, and optional feedback services, which are described in our Privacy Policy. BlockSkinLab is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mojang or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Microsoft and Mojang.

Questions and corrections

If a guide is outdated, a generated file behaves differently on your device, or an explanation is unclear, please contact us. Reports that include the affected page, browser, device, Minecraft edition, and expected result are especially useful.
